It's hard to believe that NCFI Polyurethanes has been around for 50 years. A lot has been accomplished in the spray foam industry between the company's founding in 1964 and today, and NCFI is proud to have played a role in many of the most innovative developments in polyurethane spray foam insulation and other foam materials.
NCFI was founded in 1964 by Dr. Harris Bradley, who had worked on the Manhattan Project, and the Barnhardt family, who already owned the Barnhardt Manufacturing Company at the time. The company's original name was North Carolina Foam Industries. This was later changed to NCFI Polyurethanes in 2005.
The company's founders worked to transform a rubber factory into a foam factory, initially producing blocks of foam that were used to make furniture.
The Breakthrough Moment
NCFI's attention turned to spray foam when Dr. Bradley made an important breakthrough. He created a method to continuously produce foam by forming polymers and expanding the foam at the same time, and this method remains the standard method by which spray foam is applied today.
Continual Growth and Improvement
Since 1964, NCFI has remained a leader in the foam industry, pioneering new developments in polyurethane spray foam insulation and other products. NCFI's spray foam has the highest content of renewable materials of any spray foam product on the market. They offer more than 125 different grades of foam for various purposes, from aviation to residential construction.
The company now has a global presence, shipping its products to Russia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East, as well as throughout North and South America. NCFI has been recognized with awards from Lockheed Martin and other noted corporations.
